Summer to Fall Transition Style

Can you believe how fast this summer is flying by!

August means there are just a few more weeks until Fall, so it’s time to start thinking of ways to transition your wardrobe. Since denim is a pretty universal wardrobe staple, that is the place to start. The right denim pieces will take you from the end of summer through mid-Fall with ease. I’m not at all ready to think about Fall trends, but denim is something you can always refresh. If you are looking to make a few basic updates on a budget, here are my picks for the denim wardobe updates you need to make, all under $100!

Denim Skirts and Dresses Under $100

Skirts and dresses are a staple for me and can easily be styles for summer and Fall! I love the easy breezy a-line skirts and flowy dresses and they will look just as stylish with a tank as they will with booties and sweaters. Pinafore dresses are also super chic, and work well for Fall when layered with a sweater underneth or blazer on top.

Transitonal Jeans Under $100

My go- to silhouette these days is the mom jean. It’s comfy, fashionable and looks just as good with sneakers as it does with sexy heels! If you don’t have a pair in rotation, definitely add one to cart asap. I also love playing with printed jeans and fun silhouettes, like the dramatic flare leg ones from Free People below!

Denim Jackets Under $100

As the temps cool down you’ll need to make sure you can top of your look in style. A jean jacket is a classic finishing piece, but there are so many fun ways to spice them up. I love the stylish puff sleeve silhouette on this Revolve one, and the fun color of this lilac baby. If you are feeling adventurous, go for a fun festival inspired print. Or keep it classic with a simple blue number that will go with everything!

Remember Fall will be here way before you know it! What trends are you most excited about for the new season?

NYFW Outfit Guide - 5 Looks to Slay The Street Style Game

The best part of fashion week is obviously the fashion! Not just taking it in as new looks make their way down the runway and seasonal trends are born. I love seeing the streets of NY turn into a runway, with fashionistas turning up in their most eye-catching looks, and of course getting to show off your most fun looks as well! I had a blast putting together looks for this week, collaborating with Another Man’s Treasure vintage store and Nineteenth Amendement. Check out some of my favorite looks from the week! Since some of my items are vintage and or not widely available, I included links to similar pieces so you can get the look!

Emerald green is a can’t miss color and since your coat is the first thing anyone sees this time of year, I needed to make it a good one. I gave the playful wrap coat some shape by adding a chunky belt in contrasting gold and burgundy, and added these youthful black tights with a subtle cheetah print. You can’t see the full outfit, but I’m wearing a leather mini skirt and black cashmere sweater – simple, easy, but with just a bit of edge.

For this look, I was channeling a 70’s diva, complete with massive curls, a fluffy sweater, cream leather lace-up pants and a full length suede coat with huge fur collar. Everything is so extra, but because it’s in a monochromatic color palette, it works! Plus I’m super happy to be fitting into these pants again!  They are really old Nasty Gal, but I linked another amazing pair below!

I was feeling romantic and edgy for this look. This dress is from Nineteenth Amendment Designer Leetal Platt. It’s got some edgy, sexy, metallic strappy details but a floaty, soft chiffon skirt. The contrast was my favorite thing about it. I played up the pattern on the skirt by topping it with a leopard print car coat. It took the look up just enough to be street style worthy!

Tiger print is starting to trend, so when I saw this vintage fur jacket at AMT I had to grab it. It’s a classic fit but the print makes it fresh and eye-catching. I intended to keep the look simple, with just a forest green knit dress and nude booties but got this really fun furry swag bag after the Son Jung Wan show so walked out with it! I never thought I would love a fur bag so much! I think this one was specially made for show.

I ended the week with a giant pink bang in this oversized Bianca Zidik coat from Nineteenth Amendment. It’s bright pink, metallic, and a shaggy fur that is impossible to miss! I loved the feeling of strolling down the street in this baby and having heads literally turn! Plus it got lots of attention from paparazzi, so win win!

Nail the Trend! How to Rock Head to Toe Velvet

Who has a crush on velvet?

Me, obviously! I can't get enough of the lush fabric, especially when it comes in a lush jewel tone. I got an amazing burgundy velvet jumpsuit from Pretty Little Thing a few weeks ago and have been scouting and shopping for more since then!

I was instantly obsessed with this velvet suit from Zara. Talk about a winning combo! There is something soft and drapey about the pants and jacket, lending a sophisticated pajama vibe to the look. I styled it with a statement belt instead of the coordinating sash that came with the jacket. It adds a little bit of a boss lady feel to the finished look. You could layer a stylish bralette underneath the jacket and let it peek out a bit, or just wrap it tight and go like I did! Just don't forget to add heels!

If a full body velvet look is too much for your taste, you can always style the pieces separately. The jacket would look fab with jeans or a simple black dress,  and you can easily pair the pants with a cozy knit sweater or classic white blouse. Velvet mini skirts or dresses are also adorable with tights and flat loafers. Shop this look and some of my favorite velvet pieces below!

Hello babes! Spring is here in full swing and the city is absolutely blossoming. I love spending long days bouncing about the city between museums, brunching, shopping and just basking in the new energy that rebounds after winter.

Cherry Blossoms New York

But being out all day this time of year can get tricky. In the morning it can be chilly, blazing hot by mid-day, then back down to low, breezy temps by evening. I like to play with little style spinoffs on days like this, and it's super easy to transform a look depending on how the breeze blows. Take this perfect little dress. It's from Macy's and just screams "style me for Spring!".  I've been seeing a lot of runway looks pairing dresses with jeans, so instead of tights I added my fave skinnies. The look is fresher and more unique but still keeps your legs covered if it gets chilly. And add an extra layer with a moto jacket to finish the look. A jacket always comes in handy when temperatures flucutate, so make it one that takes your look up a notch.

And when the temperature rises and you start to feel the heat, shed the jeans and jacket and just rock the sundress! Just make sure to bring a tote you can stuff your extra layers in if you need to.

There is also one key piece tying both looks together: An Anne Klein watch! Hover over the image above to start shopping!
I got this baby at Macy's and it's an instant classic. I love the timeless design and beautiful detailing. Plus it's versatile enough to go with pretty much any look from Spring to Fall! An Anne Klein watch would also make a great gift for your stylish friends or your mom on Mother's Day! The watches are versatile and can be dressed up or down like I did.

Plus the packaging is so pretty no need to fuss with gift-wrapping. Check out the collection at Macy's and let me know your favorites!

3 Spring Trends You Need Now!

Well it took a while, but Spring is finally here! I’ve been putting off my shopping until I could actually wear the goodies I was buying and now it’s finally time! I tend to live by my own personal style more than I follow trends, but there are a few that I’m pretty excited about for the season. You got a little preview in the video above, and check them out in more detail!

Maxi Dress and Leather Jacket

Maxi Dresses

If you want easy comfortable glamour, a maxi dress is the way to go! It feels like you are basically wearing pajamas, but you look super chic. Plus they can be great on their own with no styling, or you can add a layer to finish the look. Since this dress is so feminine and delicate I like the contrast of adding a tough girl moto jacket and black leather booties. As it gets hotter you can lighten up the look with sandals, and either no jacket or a lightweight vest.

Graphic T Shirt and Scarf Spring Layers

You usually hear about layering for Fall, but some Spring days can be cooler and windy so you need a bit more coverage. I like pairing a graphic T with a lightweight jacket, and taking the look up a notch with a scarf.  Depending on the weather that day, you can rock this look with jeans like in the photo, or denim cutoffs like I did in the video

Crop Tops & Mom Jeans

I pretty much never met a crop top I didn’t like. A lot of people think they can be too sexy or revealing for them, but there are crop tops for every body type. If you want to make the look more playful, pair it with something oversized, like these high waisted mom jeans. They give you instant cool girl cred and you don’t have to worry about the look being too revealing!

If you follow my blog you know I’m a pretty active person.  Between my full-time job, blog work, gym sessions and social life, my days get long and intense. One thing I don’t mention often, especially not on the blog, is my recurring back pain. I go in and out of physical therapy and have prescription pills for when the pain flare ups get bad. However, when I’m too busy for regular appointments and have no time for the side effects of the pills, I turn to solutions that I can use on the go and don’t leave me drowsy. Enter Biofreeze Professional Pain Reliever

Biofreeze® helps me with pain management so I get back to living life to the fullest. Biofreeze® Professional Pain Reliever products are sold over the counter and provide fast acting pain relief thanks to the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) grade menthol. They are also free of parabens and propylene glycol.

When I start to get achy I apply the products as needed. The tingly, cooling sensation is similar to the feeling you’d get from applying an ice pack to treat pain, but without the drippy bag, so they are much more convenient for on-the-go. I love the roll on and spray formulas for the easy application, especially in hard to reach places. Plus they are nonsystemic, non-narcotic, and contain no NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), salicylates or addictive substances – here’s to temporary pain relief with no drowsiness or weird side effects! Now let me get back to focusing on crushing my workout goals and excelling when I need to!

If you are curious about trying Biofreeze® Professional, you can check out this Store Locator to find it in your area. It used to only be available through healthcare professionals, but now you can get it somewhere more convenient to you.  In addition to being available in stores, Biofreeze Professional is available from healthcare professionals, as an optimized, longer-lasting and smoother application product. Biofreeze retail version can be found at your favorite retailer. Biofreeze Professional must be purchased through your hands-on healthcare professional.

When Grunge Meets Glam

Grunge Glam Street Style NYC

As much as I love my sparkles, florals, and femme silhouettes, sometimes a girl just can't be bothered.  On days like that I go to my alternative uniform - ripped denim and a graphic tank. it's easy, comfy, takes approximately 2 minutes to get dressed, yet looks simple and sexy.

Since I always feel weird pairing short shorts with flats or sexy heels I opted to play up the grungy vibe with chunky moto boots.

The Summer-Ready Romper

It's too hot to wear clothes.

That is pretty much my mood when NYC temps hover near the 90's and the humidity has you feeling drenched 5 minutes after you leave your house. However because I am a functioning human being with a job I'd like to keep and a business I'm trying to build, I try to find light airy pieces to get me through the sweltering days when I can't stay home laying in front of my AC.

Meatpacking District Summer Lookbook

For a blazing hot summer day, I pulled out this lingerie inspired romper from H&M. Rompers are having a moment for both men and women, and I totally get why. One piece dressing is easy on lazy days. They have an easy breezy vibe that is perfect for summer. Plus in a delicate white fabric with romantic floral print, it's perfect for garden brunching and rooftop hopping!

Romper Detail Shot

Since this really looks like it could be pajamas, I added a ton of gold jewelry and chunky platform espadrilles to keep it grounded.

Traveling in Style: My Cartagena Lookbook

I'm fresh off the heels of an incredible vacation! I already shared my travel tips and must-do activities in the city, but just as important, is what you wear for each. I had so many amazing pictures from my short trip that I wanted to do one all about my lookbook.

Day 1

Hanging on the balcony of our villa in my Tobi Come Together Shift Dress

Hanging on the balcony of our villa in my Tobi Come Together Shift Dress

For exploring the city after flying in, I changed into this comfortable, chic sundress from Tobi. It was perfect for wandering around the beautiful streets of Cartagena. The fabric is soft and breezy and the lace-up detail is a great finishing touch.

Day 2

Ice cream and head wraps are hot weather essentials

Ice cream and head wraps are hot weather essentials

After getting messy at El Totumo, I wanted to clean up but stay comfortable. I opted for a pair of vintage jean shorts and blush lace-up bodysuit. Since my hair was too much of a mess to deal with after the mud, I gave it a quick rinse and tied on a colorful head wrap, then adding a pair of fringe earrings for a look just screamed summer vacay.

Day 3

Cartagena Private Boat White Party

Today was the day we decided to party it up on a private boat we chartered to explore the Rosario Islands. Some of the girls and I decided to make it a white party, so I rocked the Gigi neoprene bikini from Triangl. I'm obsessed with their bikinis! They fit well, look super luxe but are pretty inexpensive, and it came with a really cute neoprene drawstring bag that doubled as my backpack for the day.

Day 4

Getting lost in the city in my Tobi Carlie Skater Dress

Getting lost in the city in my Tobi Carlie Skater Dress

Cartagena is such a bright, vibrant city, so this lilac skater dress from Tobi was a perfect fit for an afternoon walking around town taking pics with the squad. The temperature was 85-90 degrees each day, so something short, breezy, and open was exactly what I needed. It was such a beautiful dress I kept the rest of the look simple, just fringe earrings and a fishtail braid to keep my hair out of my way.

And if you noticed, yes I did wear the same gold flatforms every day! I despise checking luggage so picked footwear that was comfortable enough for walking around in and would work with all my other outfits.

Let me know what are your go-to items for vacation and how you style them! And thank you to Tobi for collaborating with me on this post!
