What to Wear for a Fancy Valentine’s Day Date

Valentines Day Formal Date Dress.jpg
Valentines Day Fancy Date Night.jpg

If you know you are going out on the town in high style, you better bring your A-Game and get ready to get glam! I love a romantic lace dress in a body skimming silhouette. It’s feminine, sexy but not too much, and will be guaranteed to keep your dates eyes on you. Pair it with simple, elegant heels and tasteful classic jewelry for a look that is ladylike glam.

What to Wear for a Casual Valentine’s Date

Valentines Day Fashion Tips.jpg

The best way to look pretty, stylish and casual but also make sure you stay warm is a sweater dress and boots. Pair a cozy knit dress with high boots so your legs stay covered and throw your favorite coat on to finish the look. The vibe will be cute and fashionable, but still casual cool, so perfect for a low-key date night.

What to Wear for Valentine’s Day Girl’s Night Out

Valentines Day Girls Night Out.jpg

If it’s ladies night wear something fun, comfy and fashion forward! I like mom jeans, a chunky sweater and a moto jacket. Pair it with some killer heels or booties for the perfect look for girls night out.

Holiday Season in NYC

Sequins? For holiday? Groundbreaking!

Obviously we all know the holiday season is the time for glitz and glamour and to bring all your sparkle, but seriously! Why not bring ALL THE SPARKLE! It’s the only time of year you can get away with dressing this obnoxiously, so don’t worry about being restrained. Go all out now and save your basics for January. Blazer dresses were a major trend for Fall, and I’m still loving it now!  Mixing two trends can be frowned upon, this one somehow combines the blazer dress trend and the holiday sequins trend and makes it work.  I got it from Rent the Runway, which is my hero this time of year because my Unlimited membership keeps me covered for all the events and parties that pop up. If you have been on the fence about membership, I’ll be posting more about it in a few weeks, but depending on your social schedule this month you should consider taking advantage!

But back to this dress! It’s definitely one to keep all eyes on you, and I love the loose silhouette. It hides all the sins from holiday eating and you can dance all night in it. I paired it with a pair of thigh high boots because it’s just too chilly for tights and heels these days, but if it were just a bit warmer it would look great with high heeled booties as well.  I finished the look with equally glam makeup – a soft smoky eye and deep red lip.

If you are still looking for the perfect standout dresses for whatever your holiday season may bring, shop some of my faves below!

$50 and Under Halloween Looks You Can Rent!

Magical Halloween Costume Ideas

We’ve got about 2 more weeks until Halloween and even less if you plan to celebrate all weekend long! If you are like me you start thinking about costume ideas and scouting events weeks in advance, but if you are just now starting to think about making plans, it’s not too late to put together an amazing costume! Rent the Runway is one of my favorite ways to “shop” especially for standout looks for special events. If you are looking for an affordable, no-commitment Halloween look for a special event, they are a great option. The site has thousands of options at your disposal, at a range of prices!

For the purposes of this post, I searched for styles that were under $50 at the time of publication for a 4-day rental in NYC. There may be some variance based on availability, length of rental, and where the goods are being shipping, so consider this a starting place for your search!

I’ve rented for a few Halloweens and am never disappointed. The look above was just a spooky glamour girl, and one year I was Diana Ross, complete with huge hair and long gold sequined gown! The options are pretty much endless. The best thing is each of these looks can easily be customized to various different costumes, all you need to do is swap out your ears, accessories and makeup to give these looks new life.

Here are some suggestions based on ideas that I was debating. Of course if you prefer to go more traditionally scary or super silly, you may want to go to a traditional costume shop to get what you need. But if you just feel like dressing up and going out all glammed up, stay tuned for my picks below!

How to Style Leopard: 4 Do's and Don'ts for Rocking the Trend!

Still feeling catty!

You guys already know leopard print is one of the hottest trends this season. It makes a comeback every few years, and is back in full force for Fall 2018. I’ve been wearing the print on dresses, coats, and shoes and love it pretty much every time! If you feel like it may not be for you or you are not sure how to pull it off, check out some of my do’s and don’ts for rocking the trend!

Do: Keep it Classic

The print is trendy enough, so no need to wear it on an anything too extra. Think simple, elegant heels, timeless shift or wrap dresses, and of course, jackets. Avoid mixing leopard and another trend since it can start to venture into gaudy territory.

Don’t: Let It Get Costumey

I’ve seen leopard on a lot of amazing pieces, and a lot of things that look like they came from the Halloween section at Ricky’s. Unless the goal is to actually look like you are going to a costume party, avoid leopard print on tight jumpsuits or bodycon dresses. Not saying it’s an impossible look to pull off, but it is a challenging one and really not accessible.

Do: Accessorize with It

If you aren’t sure how you would look in leopard printed clothing, a safe way to try the trend is with accessories! Think a classic bag, scarf, or heels that you could rock with everything from jeans to a little black dress. Even look for jackets that have a chic leopard lining if you don’t want to go all out!

Don’t: Wear it head to toe

Leopard is a statement print – it will get noticed. I personally wouldn’t wear more than 1 leopard print item at a time, and even then only if they were the exact same print. Mixing and matching different versions of the print or wearing it in multiple ways at once is a definite don’t!

Meow! The Perfect Leopard Dress

Leopard Maxi Dress

Leopard is having a moment! From the runways to every street style post seen over NYFW, the print is suddenly back in fashion. I’ve always been a huge fan of leopard print clothing, so it’s nice to see it making a comeback in so many new ways. I love seeing new takes on this hot print on tops, dresses, skirts, jackets, and of course shoes and accessories!

Maxi dresses are another go to of mine! I got this amazing leopard maxi dress from Boutique Feel, after seeing it on Pinterest and I love the silhouette. It is a statement making one, with the semi low-cut neckline and sheer, flowing bottom.

Leopard Maxi Dress

I layered it with a black bralette just for a bit of coverage but you can definitely leave that out, especially if you are hitting the town for a night out. Just add a classic handbag and killer shades and you are all set. And when the temps cool off you can rock it with a jacket or cardi layered on top or a long sleeve knit underneath.

The Perfect NYFW Look Featuring Upbra

Images by Nigil Crawford

Images by Nigil Crawford

This post is sponsored by Upbra. All opinions are my own.

I love any excuse to turn up the sparkle! NYFW is the perfect time of year to stand out and wear looks that will keep all eyes on you. I was debating what to wear to Saturday’s Badgley Mishka show, and since they are known for bringing the glam I decided it was the perfect occasion for bling!

sequined tuxedo jacket nyfw

This sequined Zara jacket is a favorite of mine. The blush color is soft and romantic and the iridescent sequins are just gorgeous. I paired it with my billowy wide-leg satin trousers and a bandage crop top that you would swear is Herve Leger but is from H&M when I was in Paris!

The finishing touch for this look was my major cleavage, courtesy of Upbra!

Upbra Sculpting Bra

I’ve featured them on the blog before and I just can’t get enough of this bra! It lifts like no other but is still amazingly comfortable.

The bra features cleavage control straps that are the core of the Upbra ActiveLift® technology. After the bra is on, just pull the straps and rehook them in place!

That shifts your breasts upwards and center to maximize the cleavage. The farther away the loops are from the center, the greater your cleavage. For this look I had them pulled in a bit, but not even as far as they go! Even with pulling the straps to maximize cleavage, you don’t have to worry about compromising your comfort.

If you haven’t tried Upbra yet, head over to their site ASAP! Let me know how you would style this amazing bra!

NYFW Outfit Ideas: The New LBD

Fall Little Black Dress

Can you believe it’s already mid-September? Fashion Week is in full swing and the temps today are a chilly 60 something degrees. I was hoping for a few more weeks of nice weather, but I guess Fall is seriously ready to make its debut.

In the spirit of the new season, it’s time for a new take on a wardrobe staple – the LBD! A little black dress is never boring, and never goes out of style. There are so many different types and ways to wear them! This number is from Rue107.com and has the perfect eye-catching, feminine silhouette.  I love the exaggerated A-Line proportions and the ruffle detailing on the sleeves, but the neoprene fabric adds just a touch of edge. I paired the dress with leopard block kitten heels that I got in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

I usually hate kitten heels, but the block heel made a world of difference! Something about short, thin heels just feels matronly to me, but when they are short and blocky I find them pretty cool. Plus nothing is worse than being stuck in heels when you are racing between shows at NYFW!

To finish the look, I had to throw in my classic Louis Vuitton tote that you guys have seen me wearing all over Instagram. It was a steal from a vintage store and I could wear it every day for years and not get sick of it! It works especially well with the retro vibes of this look.

The Perfect Linen Dress

Linen is basically the fabric of summer. It's cool, breezy, and has an undone sophisticated vibe that is perfect for the season. I usually go for lighter fabrics that don't tend to wrinkle as much but I caved when I saw this dress while shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Purple typically isn't a color I wear a lot, but for some reason when I saw it I was intrigued. It's a cool lilac that reminded me of a lavender field, and the shape and cutout details seemed to strike a balance between romantic and sexy.

If you aren't super into plunging necklines and open sides you may not love this, but I thought the detailing was a nice balance, especially since the dress was pretty long and billowy on my petite frame.

Linen Dress Floral Shoes

I played up the feminine vibe of the dress with these floral detail sandals from Zara. They have a sexy cage upper and are adorned with colorful 3D flowers. I am absolutely in love with them, and even though they are a high, thin heel, it's just thick enough to make you feel a little bit more comfy than you would in a classic stiletto. And for a little pop of color, I finished the look with my bold vintage Louis Vuitton.

Going to the Max! How to Wear a Maxi Top

Floral Maxi Top Summer Outfit Ideas

How is July treating you guys?

It's been super fun and super hot, but I'm trying to not get sucked into the overly casual uniform of shorts and tanks, even when you are dealing with 90 degree temps!  Trying to stay stylish and cool (literally) can be a challenge. I don't know if maxi tops are a big trend yet, but I saw a few when I was browsing Fashion Nova and was instantly intrigued.

How to Wear a Maxi Top

A maxi dress type of silhouette, but with the ease of a crop top? It was basically two of my favorite fashion things combined!

Southampton Summer Style.jpg
Fashion Nova Summer Style.jpg

If you aren't super into trends but still want to look current, a maxi top is a great way to walk the line. It has the same easy, breezy, casual chic vibe as a maxi dress, but the fact that it's a top makes it a little unexpected.

I paired it with simple white denim shorts since they matched the white in the top. You can also style with jeans if you want to show less leg, or wide leg cropped pants to maximize the flowy vibe. But I definitely prefer them paired with heels! I felt like flats were way too casual and made me feel like the top was drowning me. If you are taller you may be able to rock flats, but as a petite style blogger, I need the height to make this look work.

Let me know how you rock the trend! If you want to see more of my favorite looks, you can catch them first on my Instagram

The Perfect Summer Day & Perfect Summer Dress

Rose Garden Weekend NYBG

Summer in the city is finally here! It’s so nice coming back from a trip but keeping the vacation vibe going thanks to the amazing weather and summer fun!

One of my favorite places in New York is the New York Botanical Garden. It’s full of a gorgeous collection of blooms and has great special exhibitions all year round. So as soon as summer Friday’s started, I hopped on the Metro-North and took a quick 20 minute train ride up to the garden for an afternoon of exploring.

Summer Roses Full Bloom

Since it was Rose Garden weekend I was feeling garden party chic and decided to break out one of the dresses I picked up in Spain. This easy breezy cotton baby is so comfortable but has just a touch of romance and glamour. And it’s in the color that I can’t seem to let go of – millennial pink! This came from a tiny boutique in Mallorca, but check out similar styles you can purchase below.

Rose garden summer style

Since gardens are definitely not the place for high-heels I decided to balance the floaty dress with a pair of fringe, Dolce Vita sandals. They are super stylish and comfy, and keep the summer vibe going strong. Plus the yellow and white fringe is an unexpected pairing with the soft, dusty pink dress.

Hello babes! Spring is here in full swing and the city is absolutely blossoming. I love spending long days bouncing about the city between museums, brunching, shopping and just basking in the new energy that rebounds after winter.

BBG-9.jpg
Cherry Blossoms New York

But being out all day this time of year can get tricky. In the morning it can be chilly, blazing hot by mid-day, then back down to low, breezy temps by evening. I like to play with little style spinoffs on days like this, and it's super easy to transform a look depending on how the breeze blows. Take this perfect little dress. It's from Macy's and just screams "style me for Spring!".  I've been seeing a lot of runway looks pairing dresses with jeans, so instead of tights I added my fave skinnies. The look is fresher and more unique but still keeps your legs covered if it gets chilly. And add an extra layer with a moto jacket to finish the look. A jacket always comes in handy when temperatures flucutate, so make it one that takes your look up a notch.

And when the temperature rises and you start to feel the heat, shed the jeans and jacket and just rock the sundress! Just make sure to bring a tote you can stuff your extra layers in if you need to.

There is also one key piece tying both looks together: An Anne Klein watch! Hover over the image above to start shopping!
I got this baby at Macy's and it's an instant classic. I love the timeless design and beautiful detailing. Plus it's versatile enough to go with pretty much any look from Spring to Fall! An Anne Klein watch would also make a great gift for your stylish friends or your mom on Mother's Day! The watches are versatile and can be dressed up or down like I did.

Plus the packaging is so pretty no need to fuss with gift-wrapping. Check out the collection at Macy's and let me know your favorites!

April Showers, Spring Layers

Spring Rainy Day Style

Spring came, then went in a day!

Last Saturday was an incredible 70 degrees and sunny, only to descend back into the 40’s the next day! This weather is really keeping me on the struggle bus. Between the extreme dips in temperature, the clouds and rain it really is both a mood and wardrobe killer! I can’t stand to wear my Fall/Winter wardrobe anymore, and have been trying to creatively transition out of my winter sweaters and work in some of the cute Spring trends. It’s too cold to just wear any of my favorite Spring pieces without layers!

Froze for this shot for a minute though!

Froze for this shot for a minute though!

I’ve been feeling polka dots this season, so had my eye on this super cute jumpsuit from Macy’s. It’s a lightweight fabric, open back (another one of my favorites) and the pants are just a little bit flowy so it’s so easy to wear. Plus white is one of my go-to colors for Spring/Summer so it was the perfect find. However since the weather won’t let me be great, I had to top it with my favorite leather moto jacket to warm up. I’ll have to wait until summer to show off the pretty open back detail.

And even though this jumpsuit is begging to be paired with a cutout sandal or chunky 2 piece heel, the forecast called for clouds and drizzles so I went with sneakers instead. At least a bright floral umbrella is giving me some Spring vibes!

It's Mon-slay! Hope you guys are ready for an amazing Monday. I'm recovering from the best birthday party ever, which you can check out on my Insta-story highlight. My actual birthday isn't for a few more days, but why not spend a few days celebrating? Since I'm still in casual fun mode, this look is the perfect one for early Spring weather, and days when you want to look pulled together but still want a casual vibe.

Denim jackets are a style staple, and the coolest new versions are oversized. Think of it as the jacket version of your favorite baggy boyfriend jeans.  I've worn this baby after a workout and dressed it up for this look with a little black dress and booties.

I've been having more fun with my hair the past few weeks as well. Since the front of my hair gets a little too puffy when it's super curly, I swept it up into a fun top knot and left the back half out. This look will definitely be one of my go to styles for Spring!

Statement Jeans for Spring

Hello guys!

Technically it's the first day of Spring, but NYC is about to get another big dump of snow! I'm completely and 100% over it, just trying to do the best to get through. Since I'm trying not letting the weather get me down and crush my style, I decided to break out these all eyes on me jeans. I love a pair of mom jeans, and they are even better with embellishments!

The Highline New York

These are from Topshop and I was on the fence when I first bought them, but slowly fell in love. The light wash is super retro, and the rhinestone trim is the exact touch they need to make them pop. I especially love that they didn't skim on the details in the back, keeping the bling cute on both sides.  They seem pretty high maintenance and I still haven't figured out how I'm going to wash them TBH. But the look is worth it, even if I only break them out every once in awhile.

The Highline New York

I rocked these with a cropped tee and classic black pumps, just to balance out the loose fit of the jeans, but they'd be equally cute with a simple tank and white sneakers.

Unfortunately these babies are sold out. However you can shop similar items to get the look below!

The 1 Instagram Ready Knit You Need!

Baby it's cold outside!

It's suddenly gone from light winter temps to arctic cold here in NYC, so the struggle to look cute and stylish without completely freezing is so real! I usually hate winter shopping just because all I want to do is throw on layers of cashmere and stay indoors as much as possible. However since work and social responsibilities keep me from turning into a complete hermit, I try to find the most stylish warm weather gear possible.

Handmade Pom Pom Knit Cardigan Sweater

I'd been stalking Mum's Handmade since I saw their beautiful knit sweaters on Instagram of course. These sweaters were made for the gram! In photos they are oversized, cozy, endlessly chic, and luxurious. In person they do not disappoint!

Chunky-Handmade-Knit

I mean look at these details! The pom pom sleeves are so cute you can't take your eyes off them. People literally stopped me several times in the street to ask about this sweater and if me or a family member had knit it. I know nothing about knitting, but a lot of people could easily tell it was handmade. It took a few weeks to get mine because they are all made to order then shipped internationally, but the wait was more than worth it!

Handmade-Cozy-Knit-Sweater

The hardest part was choosing between the warm-up cardigan and the new cuddle-up sweater, then of course the color. I went with the pink because I've been living for this color. But I'm also eyeing the black, white and red. Ugh tough decisions! If you are as obsessed with this sweater as I am, and are ready to treat yourself, go ahead and make the splurge. It's pricey but def worth it!

The Easy-Glam Look You Need for any Holiday Party!

IMG_4876.JPG

The holidays are the time to bring on the glam! Whatever reservations you had about dressing up and going all out need to get thrown out the window. I love playing with different makeup looks, interesting colors and textures, and of course, long, big hair!

IMG_1307.jpg

It's always a struggle finding an outfit that is unique and eyecatching, but will still keep you from freezing in the chilly December temps. I love a festive fun dress for a holiday party, especially in winter friendly fabrics like cashmere and velvet. So when I found this stunning velvet kimono dress I was instantly in love! It's not your typical holiday dress, but will definitely have all eyes on you!

I decided to double down on the drama with a huge, fluffy faux fur coat. It's warm and cozy and ensures you won't be missed! I also love the subtle 70's effect of the look.

IMG_1392.jpg
IMG_1390.jpg

Now all you need to do is grab an equally stylish friend and get ready to hit the town!

IMG_4866.JPG

And let's talk beauty for a sec! I went with a headful of big barrel curls, a shimmery smokey eye and nude cream lipstick. I didn't want to play with too much color and risk competing with the look, so I decided to just keep the colors simple and the technique classic. Overall, I feel super glam, and even though the look is eye-catching, it was a cinch to put together!

What are your tips for staying glam during the holidays?

Metallics are having a moment. Whether you are rocking them in your makeup or in your clothes and accessories, they are here to stay!

Fall Trends Metallic Gold

Rose gold was one of the it colors this season, so when I saw this jacket I knew I had to have it! This rose gold moto jacket pretty perfectly hits both trends, and is flashy, but not gaudy. This version is Candie’s so I got it for a steal at my local Kohl’s. Unfortunately it’s only available in store, not online, so I can’t post a link to the product.  But if there is a Kohl’s near you pay them a visit or call to check stock on this amazing little moto jacket.

Rose Gold Jacket Detail Shot

Since the moto jacket was the statement piece, I kept the rest of the look simple. I paired it with this sexy distressed denim pencil skirt from Intuition LA, one of my favorite shopping secrets. The fit is super flattering and shows of your curves, but the knee length balances out the tight fit. Topped with a classic white t-shirt, it had a casual stylish vibe that I loved. My nude Louboutins were the perfect shoe to finish the look since they make my legs look super long and slim. And the final piece was my Gucci mini bag to perfect the look.

Gingham is pretty much the official print of summer! It reminds me of all things perfect for the season - picnics, long sunny days, and fresh, carefree fashion. Since summer is winding down I decided to break out the go-to print one last time.

This top is a little bit unique thanks to it's boxy shape, flowy lightweight silk fabric, and contrast printed neckline. It's from the iconic shirt brand, Equipment and is pretty much an instant classic. I've paired it with classic blue skinnies, white denim, and summery skirts and it's always a cute way to top off a look.

As much as I love my sparkles, florals, and femme silhouettes, sometimes a girl just can't be bothered.  On days like that I go to my alternative uniform - ripped denim and a graphic tank. it's easy, comfy, takes approximately 2 minutes to get dressed, yet looks simple and sexy.

Since I always feel weird pairing short shorts with flats or sexy heels I opted to play up the grungy vibe with chunky moto boots.

10 Ways to Wear Denim this Fall

August-Denim-Shopping-Guide

August is here! I can't believe we are in the final weeks of summer. The season has been a blast but its winding down, and it's time to start thinking about what you need for Fall. I know, part of me wishes I could play on the beach for months on end. But something about Fall fashion gets me so excited to dress up and play with my wardrobe again. Goodbye lazy sundresses, hello creative layering and textures!

August is also the unofficial start of denim season. The style staples comes to life in so many different forms. Classic jeans, vintage oversized jackets, cutoff shorts and tailored skirts are just a few options to work into your wardrobe.

In addition to classic styles,  love seeing the familiar fabric in unexpected ways. For example, this cutout maxi dress from one of my fave sites, Revolve.com is absolutely killer.  It looked great online but was downright SEXY SEXY in person. Some would say that the combo of a plunging neckline, thigh high slits on each leg, and an open back would be too much, but I am living for it. I tamed it a bit with a peek-a-boo bralette to keep from flashing all of New York City, and a black moto jacket. Peep-toe leather booties played up the biker babe vibe.

Denim-Dress-Street- Style

It's a standout piece for sure! If this is too daring for you, there are a ton of ways to spice up your classic denim. I like playing with interesting silhouettes, like a structured skirt or feminine, almost formal shapes.

Check out 10 of my favorite denim pieces that will have you ready for the new season in no time! I especially love the denim slip dress and wide-legged cropped jumpsuit. Just remember - denim may be a wardrobe staple but there is no reason for it to be boring!
