Print Mixing Fashion Trend

It’s my first post of 2019! I realized I haven’t done an outfit post in quite some time, so wanted to kick off my content for the new year with one of my favorite topics - fashion trends and how to wear them.

Hope you guys are recovering nicely from the New Year’s Eve festivities and are ready to jump into the new year. If you made any 2019 style resolutions, why not start kicking them off? I love experimenting with trends, and mixing prints has always been one of my favorites. It can be a tricky look to pull off, but when done correctly makes your look unforgettable.

There are a few things to know when mixing prints to keep from looking crazy. One thing to remember is to keep the color families similar and not too bold. Mixing both prints and colors can put you in the doing too much zone, and you want to keep it chic and stylish. I also prefer to keep the prints in a similar size/scale for balance. In the look above, I paired a grey snakeskin maxi dress from Zara with a vintage blue plaid coat. The grey and blue play nicely together and both prints aren’t too big or too small, so they work well when paired. Keep the rest of the look clean to let your prints stand out. I went for classic, minimal jewelry and simple black booties with a chunky heel.

Let me know how you feel about the print mixing trend, and shop the look below!

The Perfect NYFW Look Featuring Upbra

This post is sponsored by Upbra. All opinions are my own.

I love any excuse to turn up the sparkle! NYFW is the perfect time of year to stand out and wear looks that will keep all eyes on you. I was debating what to wear to Saturday’s Badgley Mishka show, and since they are known for bringing the glam I decided it was the perfect occasion for bling!

This sequined Zara jacket is a favorite of mine. The blush color is soft and romantic and the iridescent sequins are just gorgeous. I paired it with my billowy wide-leg satin trousers and a bandage crop top that you would swear is Herve Leger but is from H&M when I was in Paris!

The finishing touch for this look was my major cleavage, courtesy of Upbra!

Upbra Sculpting Bra

I’ve featured them on the blog before and I just can’t get enough of this bra! It lifts like no other but is still amazingly comfortable.

The bra features cleavage control straps that are the core of the Upbra ActiveLift® technology. After the bra is on, just pull the straps and rehook them in place!

That shifts your breasts upwards and center to maximize the cleavage. The farther away the loops are from the center, the greater your cleavage. For this look I had them pulled in a bit, but not even as far as they go! Even with pulling the straps to maximize cleavage, you don’t have to worry about compromising your comfort.

If you haven’t tried Upbra yet, head over to their site ASAP! Let me know how you would style this amazing bra!

Summer Dressing Made Easy

Summer Style in Brooklyn

Tomorrow is the official first day of Summer! It’s one of my favorite times of year – the city is full of sunshine, the rooftops are poppin and the energy is over the top fun. Summer fashion calls for bold colors, fun patterns and interesting details. It’s way too hot to worry about what to wear, so I tend to stick to my formula for creating a standout look with ease.

Street Style in Bushwick.jpg

It starts with a statement piece, like this skirt. I got this from SGTC Clothing, an amazing Instagram that let’s you shop authentic Nigerian pieces straight from the gram. Just scroll through their feed and DM them your picks to place an order. The team sent me this amazing color-block skirt, and it came in no time. The silhouette is fun and the print is unique and very on trend.

To let the skirt shine, I paired it with a simple tube top from Fashion Nova. Have you shopped their site yet? If you haven’t you definitely need to take a look. They have everything from the wild, trendy, super sexy, and plenty of basics like this top or my go to jeans.

Statement Earrings and Curly Hair.jpg

Then I took the rest of the look up a notch with the accessories! Bold statement earrings in a color palette that complimented the skirt were the perfect finishing touch, along with the Ark bag that I can’t live without, and a pair of can’t miss me neon sandals.

Statement Jeans for Spring

Hello guys!

Technically it's the first day of Spring, but NYC is about to get another big dump of snow! I'm completely and 100% over it, just trying to do the best to get through. Since I'm trying not letting the weather get me down and crush my style, I decided to break out these all eyes on me jeans. I love a pair of mom jeans, and they are even better with embellishments!

The Highline New York

These are from Topshop and I was on the fence when I first bought them, but slowly fell in love. The light wash is super retro, and the rhinestone trim is the exact touch they need to make them pop. I especially love that they didn't skim on the details in the back, keeping the bling cute on both sides.  They seem pretty high maintenance and I still haven't figured out how I'm going to wash them TBH. But the look is worth it, even if I only break them out every once in awhile.

The Highline New York

I rocked these with a cropped tee and classic black pumps, just to balance out the loose fit of the jeans, but they'd be equally cute with a simple tank and white sneakers.

Unfortunately these babies are sold out. However you can shop similar items to get the look below!

When Grunge Meets Glam

As much as I love my sparkles, florals, and femme silhouettes, sometimes a girl just can't be bothered.  On days like that I go to my alternative uniform - ripped denim and a graphic tank. it's easy, comfy, takes approximately 2 minutes to get dressed, yet looks simple and sexy.

Since I always feel weird pairing short shorts with flats or sexy heels I opted to play up the grungy vibe with chunky moto boots.

The 1 Dress You Need for Summer

Bold prints and patterns are my summer go tos. The warm sunny weather makes me want to pull out a palette of bright colors and borderline obnoxious prints. Even though I love patterns, I dont usually go for horizontal stripes, especially not in such a bold color palette. But for some reason this Mara Hoffman multicolored striped maxi dress was calling me. And hey, it was from Rent the Runway so no commitment required! I took advantage of one of their specials to rent a few styles for a weekend so decided to experiment a bit.

The dress fit perfectly and even though I was worried about it being too long,  the length was just right! I styled it with a pair of cobalt blue lace up sandals to bring out the hue in the dress.

And in case you haven't noticed from my Instagram, I also tend to gravitate to silhouettes with low cut backs. The back of this dress is super flattering and the pretty little knot is the best detail.

If you are curious about trying a new style or spicing up your look, renting is a great low cost way to experiment with fashion. It gives you access to hundreds of options and pretty much guarantees you'll never have buyers remorse. And New York girls,  just think of the closet space you'll free up!

Style Essentials Reinvented

Fashionistas like me tend to get carried away. We obsess over bold colors, wild patterns, and all kinds of embellishments. I love standout pieces as much as the next fashion lover, but sometimes the things that catch my eye the most are clean and simple. Sometimes a style challenge can focus on reinventing your basics, not just going for the loudest, most high energy pieces.

For this look, I wanted to combine simple classic pieces that were the perfect mix of sporty and sexy. These high waisted skinny jeans are quickly becoming my go to pair. They are super comfortable but the way they fit is perfect for showing off my curves. Sometimes I like to balance tight bottoms with a flowy shirt, but since I've been killing it at the gym getting in shape for my vacation, I have been more inclined to show off. I doubled down on the fitted factor, pairing the jeans with this amazing, sleek bodysuit from Tobi. Bodysuits are my everything, especially in Spring and Summer. They keep everything smooth and in place, and can make even the most simple outfit extra cool and sexy. This style is in classic black, but the cat-collar and low back give it va-va-voom vibes!

The best part? This style features snap closures so you can easily take care of business without having to fully undress! Just be careful and wear a bit of fashion tape to keep everything in place! I definitely felt like a good gust of wind would have caused a major wardrobe malfunction!

How do you spice up your wardrobe essentials? Let me know how you keep your style fresh by playing with classic items! And special thanks to the Tobi team for collaborating with me on this post. Make sure to shop this style and some amazing other options on Tobi.com!

One Key Piece: The Street-Art Inspired Bomber

Sometimes all you need is one key piece to finish your look. Even the best dressed fashion babes have days where you just want to throw something basic on and go. When my schedule gets so hectic I can barely think, I go to a basic formula for dressing. Jeans, leather pants or culottes on bottom, simple sweater or t-shirt or top, then throw on a standout piece. It could be shoes, a ton of eye-catching jewelry, or a jacket to top off the look.

So when I found this amazing graffiti bomber there was no way I couldn't grab it! You guys know from my Instagram I'm a huge fan of street art, so this piece was really calling me.

Plus it's just as cool from the back as it is from the front! This item is part of Rachel Roy's limited edition Graffiti Collection available at Macys. Rachel collaborated with George  "SEN-One" Morillo, one of the most revered artists in graffiti history. The collection is inspired by NYC's graffiti scene in the 80's, and the current athleisure trend that is still going strong. You may remember Rachel Roy's unfortunate Instagram post that ended in a flood of "Becky" allegations. However she was first and foremost a fashion designer, and this piece is a nice, edgy departure from her usually restrained, classic items.

There really are dozens of ways to wear this baby! Today I'm rocking it with jeans, a cashmere sweater and booties. But it would be great on top of a feminine dress for some contrast, with leggings running errands, or even thrown on top of your gym clothes on the way to a workout. Just try to avoid the temptation to pair it with the matching leggings, because that would be entirely toooooo much!

Rachel Roy Graffiti Bomber, available at Macys. It's now $139, but try to catch it on sale! Also check out more of George's amazing work and stay tuned for the launch of his online shop!

I Have This Thing with Sleeves

How amazing is this sweater! I found it on one of my last trips to H&M and immediately fell in love. It's a warm, fluffy mohair type material with menswear inspired striped sleeves and hem.

And let's talk about these sleeves! Volume was a huge trend on the runways this season and this hits the trend on the head! And at only $69 it's a steal! I paired it with skinny leather pants and sock booties to counterbalance the volume and keep the rest of the look chic.

Leather Weather, Kind Of

I've kind of been waiting for the chance to break out my leather pants! We are barely feeling the late-Sept chill in the early evenings, and even though I still miss summer, the crisp air is a bit refreshing. For my day out and about in the Lower East Side, I paired a simple sleeveless knit with Nasty Gal leather skinnies and sock booties. The black leather on black leather look makes your legs look a mile long. The topper was an arm party, and this awesome choker from Intuition LA. You guys know I'm a fan of their fun and affordable accessories, and this slim wrap around choker is simple, sexy, and totally on trend.

NYFW Edit: Look 1

One of the best things about September in is Fashion Week. Even though I always get the end of summer blues as Labor Day weekend passes, the energy of NYFW gets me excited to edit my closet, start Fall shopping and see the best of street style while day dreaming about what I'll be wearing next Spring. My first look of the week was made for evening shows and event bouncing. It's still warm enough to go strapless, so I pulled out this dramatic, billowy cape crop top and paired it with my classic black culottes, both from Asos. You can always dress a little like a drama queen around fashion week, so I went ahead and finished the look with this vintage Greek goddess inspired collar from Sergio Rossi's Spring 2011 collection, a polka dot clutch, and Manolo Blahnik bandage booties. Here's to kicking off one of New York's most stylish weeks, well, in style!
