Spring Ready Hair with Stylebox Salon!

Balayage Natural Hair.jpg

So I'm sure you noticed my new look on Instagram and my stories lately, so I'm finally spilling the tea! I'd been wanting to color my hair for sometime, debating the shade, the process, and how it would effect the health of my hair overall. Luckily I had found an amazing salon and a stylist I trusted to get me to the color of my dreams!

Stylebox Salon is a new gem in Brooklyn, with friendly and attentive service, talented stylists that serve all hair types, and a fantastic bar so you can sit drink and be merry, as they say on their site! They use amazing vegan products and even keep the bathroom stocked with organic tampons!

The process started with choosing a color, so I settled on a full head of caramel blonde balayage. I'd been obsessed with the technique forever but only ever seen it on straight or wavy hair, so wasn't sure it would work on kinky textured hair.

The brighter blondes were kind of calling me, but I decided to play it safe since it was my first time coloring. Nicole carefully painted tiny stands of my hair, keeping them separated with foil. Then I hung out with a bellini while it processed!

My hair is super porous so it processed pretty quickly. However it decided on its own that I should be a redhead. My hair turned a shade of red that wasn't anywhere near any of the colors in the book!  Luckily Nicole expertly toned the color down so instead of leaving looking like Ronald McDonald, I ended up with this!

Overall I ove it and my hair feels healthy as ever! I may make a second visit in a few months to try and go lighter, but for now just going to see how my hair feels.

Summer Dressing Made Easy

Long summer days call for easy breezy dressing.  You can spend all of July and August lying under your air conditioner, but you’ll miss all the best things about summer! Pajama dressing becomes my go to style for the dog days of summer. I opt for loose flowy dresses or 2 piece sets that make matching easy.

Free People Classy and Sassy Set

This look from Free People fits the bill pretty perfectly! The lightweight knit fabric is casual and comfy, and the bright tomato red hue just screams summer. The ultra-crop top was a little intimidating at first, but the pants can be worn higher on the waist if you want to show less skin. And it comes in 3 other colors, so if red isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other options.

Classy and Sassy Style

I’m rocking my favorite flatforms for a comfy casual look with a little added height, but you can also dress the look up with some slinky heels.  A geometric bracelet and mirrored shades complete the look.

Here’s to summer glam made easy. Looks like this take the thinking out of getting dressed so you can ponder more important things, like what kind of rose to buy or which rooftop to go for happy hour.

Sundays in Brooklyn

Since I'm in the LIC area, Greenpoint is basically one of my coolest next door neighbors. When I don't want to bother coming into the city, I can walk or hop on the G, and hang out in one of the cutest areas that is bursting with scenic streets, top-notch coffee shops and diverse restaurants.

I went for a cozy chic look with distressed jeans, a cashmere turtleneck, sequined beanie and my classic Gucci bag. For a pop of color I went with cobalt blue lips courtesy of Anastasia, a color I'm completely obsessed with. This look was perfect for a day of exploring vintage stores and artisanal coffee shops.  If you have any favorite places I should checkout next time I'm in the neighborhood, leave your tips in the comments!

Getting in the Holiday Spirit with Kangol

I started teasing these on Instagram a few weeks ago, and I'm so happy to finally be able to share the whole campaign! I collaborated with the amazing Julius July and fellow campaign star Jennifer Burchette to celebrate Kangol's new holiday line. I was so excited to be tapped for this campaign and the chance to shoot in Dumbo, one of the city's prettiest neighborhoods.
